Hack the Future of STELLA is an in-person, student-inclusive hackathon designed to give participants hands-on experience building real-world solutions using applied AI, voice technology, and human-centered design.

Hosted by OViiE AI, an Orlando-based startup and current participant in the Starter Studio Pre-Seed Accelerator, the event brings together students, developers, designers, and innovators to collaborate on challenges focused on multilingual communication, accessibility, and inclusive technology experiences.

What makes this hackathon special is its emphasis on applied learning and mentorship. Participants are not only encouraged to build creative solutions, but to understand the real-world impact of their work. Throughout the event, teams will have access to on-site mentors—including engineers, founders, and industry professionals—along with workshops and guided check-ins to support learning, experimentation, and project development.

The hackathon is intentionally designed to be beginner-friendly while still offering depth for more advanced participants. Teams will form on-site and work collaboratively over the course of the event to design, prototype, and demo their ideas. Projects will be presented to judges and guests at the conclusion of the hackathon.

At its core, Hack the Future of STELLA emphasizes:

  • Student learning and skill-building

  • Ethical and inclusive use of AI

  • Collaboration across technical and non-technical disciplines

  • Real-world problem solving

The event follows the MLH Code of Conduct and is committed to creating a welcoming, respectful, and supportive environment for participants of all backgrounds and experience levels.

Requirements

What to Build

At Hack the Future of STELLA, teams will collaborate in person to build a production-ready MVP during a 72-hour build period spanning five days.

This is an in-person hackathon hosted in Orlando, where teams will work together on-site to design, build, and prepare their solutions for live judging and demonstrations.

This hackathon is not exploratory or concept-only. By the end of the event, each team is expected to deliver a functional, end-to-end MVP that demonstrates real usability, clear workflows, and a working technical implementation.

Hack the Future of STELLA is centered on building the future of Voice AI, language technology, and human connection. Teams will design and ship solutions that reflect how AI can power inclusive, multilingual, and human-centered experiences in the real world.

Your MVP should focus on one or more of the following areas:

  • Multilingual communication or translation experiences

  • Voice-enabled or conversational AI systems

  • Accessibility-first technology and inclusive design

  • Human-centered AI solutions with clear real-world application

Teams may build:

  • A production-ready web application

  • A production-ready mobile application

  • A deployed AI or voice-powered system

  • A complete workflow or experience supported by production-quality code

While perfection is not expected, your MVP must be functional, testable, and demo-ready, with clear evidence that it could be deployed or extended beyond the hackathon.

Prizes

1 non-cash prize
PAID INTERNSHIP
10 winners

Participants in the Hack the Future of STELLA Hackathon will compete for the opportunity to continue building with the OViiE Ai team and help shape the future of STELLA — a real-time multilingual AI platform for global hospitality.

Rather than traditional cash prizes, the winning teams will receive career-building opportunities to work directly with OViiE Ai on real-world technology deployments.

Teams may consist of up to 10 participants.

First Place – $80,000 Paid Internship Opportunity

The winning team will receive the opportunity to participate in a 6-month paid internship with OViiE Ai with a total salary pool of $80,000.

Selected team members will work directly with the OViiE Ai engineering and product teams to continue building and expanding STELLA, our real-time multilingual AI platform designed for hospitality and global travel.

The $80,000 salary pool will be distributed among selected participants from the winning team.

Example distribution:
If 10 participants are selected, the compensation may equate to approximately $8,000 per participant over the 6-month internship period.

Interns will gain hands-on experience in:

AI product development

Speech and language technology

Real-world product deployment

Startup engineering and innovation

Participants may contribute directly to technology used by global hospitality partners.

Judging Criteria

  • Production Readiness & Completeness (Highest Weight)
Is the MVP fully functional, stable, and demo-ready? Does the solution demonstrate clear, end-to-end workflows? Could this realistically be deployed, piloted, or extended beyond the hackathon?
  • Technical Execution & Architecture
Code quality, structure, and maintainability Sound system design and architectural decisions Effective use of AI, voice, or language technologies where applicable
  • Alignment with STELLA’s Mission
Does the solution meaningfully address language, communication, accessibility, or human connection? Is the use of AI intentional, ethical, and human-centered? Does the project align with real-world use cases relevant to STELLA’s platform vision?
  • User Experience & Accessibility
Is the experience intuitive and easy to use? Has accessibility been considered in design or interaction? Does the product feel usable by real users, not just developers?
  • Impact & Real-World Potential
Does the project solve a real problem? Is there clear potential for adoption, iteration, or pilot use? Does the solution demonstrate value beyond the hackathon?
  • Team Execution & Ownership
Evidence of strong collaboration and role ownership Clear articulation of what was built and why Ability to communicate decisions, tradeoffs, and next steps
